In the studio, off air post live show on Tuesday the 24th of November Sonja corners The LGBT Comic Book Group gang , Haydn, Tess,Owen and Robyn, to ask them What Is Identity? and what that means to them as queer people and comics enthusiasts. So what is Quartz, the Quartzine ? :
Quartz (Queer Arts Zine) is a free digital and limited print zine that aims to promote discussion of issues affecting the LGBTIQ community as well as promoting emerging talent.
The first issue of Quartz will feature artwork, comic art, illustrations, poetry and nonfiction from over a dozen talented contributors along the theme of “What is Identity?”. Quartz will officially launch during Midsumma 2016!
Want to be part of Quartz? Here are a few ways you can:
• Submit works along the theme “What is Identity?” (note only very limited space still available)
• Submit works addressing ANY theme that affects the LGBTIQ community for consideration in future issues
• Help design the cover and add your artistic flair to Quartz at a production day to be held on Sunday 6th December from noon at JOY 94.9 (Level 9, 225 Bourke Street, Melbourne, VIC)
• Come along to the launch event at Hares Hyenas on Monday 18th January (6:30pm) and pick up your free printed copy!
