Lady Killers on TV is Here!

TV-RETRO

Episode # 23 Sci-Fi and Squeam cuts it up with The Rover, The Babadook and a new segment on the show is introduced!

In the studio at JOY studios The Squeamer is joined with microphones at the ready with Emma O’Connor and Tina Rodi who are…..LADY KILLERS ON TV! A special segment all about television today, from the past and the future in genre TV

ABOUT THE LADIES : Tina and Emma – incurable nerds and lovers of genre.

Emma – I love clever dialogue and a steel-trap plot. Conflicted villains, stylised gore and Nick Frost.

Tina – I love a shrewdly  inserted pop culture reference, a sassy female protagonist and an edgy score. Sometimes I wish that I could be Benedict Cumberbatch’s underpants.

What they want to do for the show:

Emma – We want to concentrate on the sub-genres of Science Fiction and Horror in television – the bastardization of ‘creatures’, the evolution of terror, the scores and … and an excuse to chain-watch television programmes without the guilt.

I guess we’ll also be banging on about the progression of television and moaning about how we can’t legally watch Game of Thrones and how the powers that be are literally forcing us to illegally download programs we’d happily pay for if they were available on iTunes.
Tina – I would really love to time the segments (as much as possible) around new seasons of shows starting for eg: Lost Girl series #5 commences in September, so discussing Faeries at that point would be timely.
STAY TUNED for MORE from The Lady Killers on TV starting from July!

Babadook

And also….finally we get to hear Jennifer Kent and Essie Davis from The Babadook talk all things about this amazing Oz Horror film homegrown ( well, Adelaide) and their experience with the film, it is becoming quite the genre phenomena!

The Babadook‘ Trailer:

The Rover‘ Trailer:

And The Squeamer also did a quickie REVIEW on The Rover a new Aussie dystopical film from the director of The Animal Kingdom! it includes a NON sparkly Vampire Robert Pattinson..it’s a long way from Twilight that is for sure…!
